# AI queries, plan limits, and cancelling

What counts as an AI query, what happens when you hit your monthly cap, and how cancelling works.

* * *

## What counts as an AI query?

A query is any conversation turn or generation that uses Kepler’s hosted AI to read across what you saved: summaries, comparisons, references, and grounded answers all count. The [pricing page](/pricing) calls them AI Assistant credits.

## What happens when I run out of queries?

Kepler keeps working. You keep saving, organising, and searching. Kepler’s built-in AI pauses until your monthly cap resets or you upgrade.

Asking from ChatGPT or Claude through Kepler keeps working, and those questions don’t count toward the cap.

Tip

To keep asking after the cap, [connect Kepler to ChatGPT](/help/articles/9291422-connect-kepler-to-chatgpt) or [to Claude](/help/articles/5169157-connect-kepler-to-claude).

## Can I use my own AI models?

Yes, on any plan. [Connect Kepler to ChatGPT](/help/articles/9291422-connect-kepler-to-chatgpt) or [to Claude](/help/articles/5169157-connect-kepler-to-claude), or [add it to another AI](/help/articles/8426195-connect-kepler-with-mcp) that supports connectors, and ask there about what you’ve saved. Those questions don’t use your queries, and no plan limits them.

[Kepler Explorer](/explorer), our browser, is in preview for macOS. The AI that opens pages and answers there is your own: ChatGPT with your subscription, an OpenAI-compatible API with your key, a model on your computer, or Kepler AI.

## Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your account settings. You keep access until the end of the billing period and your data stays available on the Free plan.

## Who controls my data?

You do. Your Spaces, links, and notes belong to you. We never sell your data and never train third-party models on it. Delete at any time, or ask us for a copy.
